Your Pet's Health is in Your Hands

WHAT IS THERAPEUTIC TOUCH?
I pay considerable attention to my pets and in so doing I exchange physical contact with them several times a day. It gives me the opportunity to apply the technique of Therapeutic Touch on a regular basis.

Therapeutic Touch is a technique of moving the physical energy of an animal or human without actually touching the surface of the body. Persons applying Therapeutic Touch place their hands two to six inches away from the body of the animal or human and with rhythmic and slow-hand motions, assess the presence and flow of the energy (Chi) to determine where the flow is blocked. When found they move their hands in specific ways to break up congestion and encourage normal flow of energy. Such treatments have been scientifically documented to have successfully treated a variety of medical conditions.

The proper use of Therapeutic Touch can decrease anxiety, reduce pain, and ease problems associated with dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system which governs involuntary actions of the body. Clinical studies have shown that Therapeutic Touch has physiological effects such as altering enzyme activity, increasing hemoglobin levels, reducing fever and inflammation, and accelerating the healing of wounds. The most common use of this technique is to relieve pain and reduce stress and anxiety. A session usually lasts for twenty to twenty five minutes. Instructions in the use of this technique can be found in LOVING HANDS.
